Oyster Roast
The annual Oyster Roast takes place in late February or early March. This is a fundraiser for the LPNA and the neighborhood’s only social event that requires pre-purchased tickets. Tickets cover oysters and accoutrements. Bring chairs, beverages and a side if desired. It's a chance to warm everyone up with some neighbor-to-neighbor socializing along with those hot, roasted oysters!
Easter Egg Hunt
The Egg Hunt is typically held on a Saturday one or two weeks before Easter. Look for details on Facebook and e-mails. Location may vary, but it's generally near Lindley Recreation Center or in the park between Lindell and Willowbrook. There are usually hunts for three age groups: infant to 3, ages 4 to 7, and ages 8 and up. Bring your basket and have a fun time finding sweets and other fun treats. There may even be an Easter Bunny sighting! Time to bring the kids to meet that wascally wabbit and watch them search for where he's hidden his eggs.
Spring Fling
Come out the first Saturday of May and join our Spring Fling Bar-B-Que. Please bring a side or dessert to share, and chairs or a blanket for relaxing. Come out and get to know some new neighbors and visit with the old ones. There's nothing like BBQ in the park with neighbors to welcome in the warmer weather.
LPNA Yard Sale
It's a Yard Sale en masse! Residents throughout the neighborhood hold their own sales with 10% of proceeds from each participant going to support the LPNA.
National Night Out
National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday of August every year. It is a time for communities across the nation to join together in partnership with our critical support teams. Each year we host our police, firefighters and other first responders for fun and fellowship. Please plan to drop by for a chance to converse and maybe even see inside a fire truck or police car. See Facebook and Emails for details each year.
Chili Cook-off
It's your chance to put your best chili up against your neighbors to see who can take the crown! For more information and to register to show your down-home culinary stuff, see the Chili Cook-off page.
Luminaries
Help Us Light Up the Night!
Each year Lindley Park residents line the park with over 1000 luminaries. We gather at Lindley Recreation Center at 4:00PM the first Saturday in December. Help is needed to fold bags, fill with sand and candles (bring a cup or garden trowel), distribute bags and light candles, and the following morning a clean-up crew to pick everything up. Come meet your neighbors and spread some holiday cheer. We’ll have hot chocolate, cookies and holiday music.
When “Candlefest” occurs we place luminaries over the Walker Ave. bridge to extend the glow. Candlefest is a Holiday celebration hosted by the Girl Scouts which lines the Arboretum paths with more than 4000 luminaries. Activities include music, horse and carriage rides, and refreshments. Santa joins the festivities in the Arboretum gazebo. Admission is collection by way of non-perishable food items for the Greensboro Urban Ministry.
